Al Franken’s Replacement Has Been Chosen

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (D) announced Wednesday his decision to replace embattled Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) with Lt. Gov. Tina Smith. Franken announced his resignation in early December following numerous allegations of sexual misconduct. Smith’s appointment would, for the first time in history, add Minnesota to the short list of states represented by two female senators.
